Today was a major disappointment. When i went to decant the tepache that I started last week, I found something had gone very wrong, and it had all turned gloopy. I would normally make this in the summer so I am thinking the current low temperature would be a factor. I can only imagine something got in there that shouldn't have and that, due to the cold weather, the yeast fermentation did not really get off the ground.

At least my preserved lemon skins are doing ok:

On the plus side, we had some roast pork with steamed and roast veg for tea, and used the last of the ham stock with the meat juices, veg water, and some flour to make gravy. Leftover veg is in the fridge and will join yesterday's chicken stock for soup.

We had pudding made from some I-don't-know-how-old tapioca cooked in the oven with sugar, milk, nutmeg and a knob of butter.
